Batesburg-Leesville Primary and the B-L and Twin City Rotary Clubs will present "Got Book?" on Tuesday, January 31 at 6 p.m. in the BLPS cafeteria. An art show will also be held from 5-7 p.m. and a spaghetti supper sponsored by the school's PTO will be held in the cafeteria beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Common Planning/Early Release Day will be held on Wednesday, February 1. There will be no Afterschool Program at Batesburg-Leesville Elementary School on this date. Dismissal times for all schools are as follows: B-L Primary, 12:45 p.m.; B-L Elementary, 1:00 p.m.; B-L Middle, 1:36 p.m; and B-L High, 1:50 p.m.

Welcome to Mrs. Asbill's First Grade Classroom!

Welcome to the "Wonderful World of First Grade!" Our first grade classroom is located in Room 101 at B-L Primary. All areas of the curriculum are covered in our classroom with the exception of Related Arts. Physical Education, Music, Media, Art and Computer Lab are taught on a weekly basis by different teachers. Be sure to visit these web pages as well! I look forward to a wonderful year with my first graders! Spring Activities in the Classroom

We are busy in Mrs. Asbill's first grade classroom as we begin the 2011-2012 school year! Our first weeks are filled with review of Kindergarten skills and practicing good behavior as we talk about rules and procedures for all areas of our school. We are also launching the Daily 5 which will be implemented throughout the school. Daily 5 center activities teach students to be independent and to spend more time with books. We will also begin guided reading groups soon! I look forward to a positive, productive and fun filled year!

About the Teacher

My name is Gail Riley Asbill and I begin this school year with 30 years of experience. I am a graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School and Winthrop University. I received National Board Certification in 2002 and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction:Technology in 2008. I am proud to say that my husband, my sons, and myself have all attended Lexington School District Three schools! We have grown up in this community and most of our families live here as well.

My husband, Al, and I have two sons. T.J. is a Senior at Clemson University. Jake is a tenth grader at Batesburg-Leesville High School. We have also adopted a very large and clumsy dog named Riley.

I enjoy gardening, reading, and spending time with family and friends. My first graders are always very special to me! This is an exciting time in their lives.
